Micro Size - Thor's Hammer Woodworking Mallet. ~ Mjolnir~
Perfect size for setting plane blades, small chiseling, or other small work. I also keep one on my desk to play with!
Note: Lignum Vitae AND Cocobolo are now on the CITES Appendix II list, and the IUCN Redlist. They no longer being imported into the US or anywhere. When they're gone, they're gone.
This is a fully functional Woodworking mallet. It is made of exotic wood in a replica of Thor's Hammer.
These mallets are built to last many lifetimes.
The head is made from a solid block of the Exotic wood of your choice;
Lignum vitae - The densest woods on the planet!
Cocobolo - The most beautiful of the rosewood family
Bocote - Very exotic looking with beautiful grain patterns
Purpleheart - Vibrant and strikingly beautiful purple
African Padauk - Bright orange to deep red brilliant natural color
Wenge - Rich dark streaks of black and brown
Osage Orange - One of the few exotics that survives in the US
East Indian Rosewood - The most famous and enduring of the exotic rosewood family.
Leopardwood - Beautiful exotic with patterning that resemble the spots of a leopard.
Redheart - Striking red color that accents any species
The handle can be made from African Padauk (as shown) or Purpleheart (like we made for the Wood Whisperer, Marc Spagnuolo), Bocote, (like we made for Matt Cremona), or any other species shown.
Note: these exotic woods are extremely dense and will check. It is in their nature. But this will not affect the performance of the mallet.
Please keep in mind that all wood is a natural product and there is great variation in color and grain pattern within each species. The pictures below are approximate representatives of each of the species that I offer.
If you are interested in a species that I do not have listed please email me, I can probably do it.
Approximately 8-1/4" long with 3-1/4" long mallet head.
All Mallets are made after ordering, we don’t really have the ability to keep all 316 variants in stock. Depending on time of year, orders can take 4-6 weeks to build.
Below is a video of me building the full size mallet.
